Plain-English policy
Ownership and cancellation, in plain English
Quick answer
With Horizon Digital Co., you own your domain and everything you gave us: your text, your images, your logo. Horizon does not export or transfer the website or its content, so keep your own copies. If you cancel, service ends and the site goes offline immediately. There is no buyout and no transfer. That is the whole policy, and it is the reason the price is $99 a month instead of thousands up front.
Most pay-monthly website providers bury this in their terms. Here it is in one place, in plain words.
What is yours
- Your domain. If you already have one, you keep it and point it at your Horizon site. If you are buying one for the site, buy it in your own name at any registrar so it stays yours no matter what happens with any provider, including us.
- Your content. The text, photos, logo and business information you provide are yours. We do not claim any rights to them.
- Your leads. Form submissions go to you.
What is Horizon’s
- The framework and the site itself. The layout, code and hosting are Horizon’s product. That is what a subscription buys: the right to use it while you are a customer.
What happens when you cancel
- Cancellation takes effect immediately. Your website is taken offline right away; it does not run to the end of the billing period.
- Horizon does not export, transfer or hand over the website or the content on it. There is no buyout option and no migration service.
- Your domain is untouched. Point it wherever you like.
Keep your own copies
Because Horizon does not export content, keep a copy of everything you send us: your service descriptions, your about text, your photos and your logo. You wrote it and you own it, and you should never need to ask a vendor for your own words. If you ever leave, you can hand that folder to anyone and rebuild in a day.
Which plan to pick if you are not sure
The $169 a month plan has no commitment and can be cancelled anytime. The $99 a month price is the 12-month price. Either way, we email a renewal reminder at least 30 days before any renewal, and you can stop the renewal from the billing portal.
Questions we get about this
Can I download my site if I leave? No. You can and should keep copies of your own content, but the built site is not exportable.
Can I take the design somewhere else? No. The framework is Horizon’s product.
Will you hold my domain? No. Your domain is yours. Register it in your own name, keep the login, and it can never be held by anyone, including us.
Is this better or worse than other providers? It is stricter than some. A few competitors offer a buyout or transfer the site after a number of payments; most bundled marketing platforms keep everything and run 6 to 12 month contracts. We list the policies we could verify side by side in Do I own my website if I pay monthly?
The legal version of all of this is in our Terms of Service. If anything on this page ever disagrees with the terms, email support@horizondigitalco.com and we will fix whichever one is wrong.
